Top 10 TV Costumes

10. Will's School Jacket | Fresh Prince of Bel Air

Costume Designer: Penny Larson

This iconic Fresh Prince look is the best school uniform I've ever seen, mainly because Will flips the boring looking jacket inside out, making him stand out from the other students. The colors of the jacket with the tie reflect the colors of Will's everyday personal style and his disinterest in simply blending in with the residents of Bel-Air.

9. Rowena's Queen of Hell Outfit | Supernatural

Costume Designer: Kerry Weinrauch

Episode: Our Father, Who Aren't in Heaven

Rowena has always had some great outfits that reflect her place in life- from timeless witch, to modern elegance to, now, Queen of Hell. And of course, she chooses to wear red with a snake belt and matching snake bracelets. The serpent has always been a symbol of Lucifer, made even more obvious with the red eyes. When we first see Rowena taking over the role of her past abuser, she chooses to make his symbol her own fashion statement. Iconic.

8. Rose's 70's Outfit | Doctor Who

Costume Designer: Louise Page

Episode: Tooth and Claw

Preparing to time travel to a concert in Scotland 1979, the Doctor and Rose accidentally end up in 1879 Scotland, leaving Rose to remain severely underdressed for their adventure. But who cares, because she rocks this look the whole time! It also leads to many jokes about the Victorian-era characters considering her practically naked.

7. Peggy Carter's Office Suit | Agent Carter

Costume Designer: Giovanna Ottobre-Melton

Episode: Now Is Not The End

Posters, Promos, Intros- this outfit is as much the face of Agent Carter as Peggy is. The show makes a point to establish Peggy as the hero of her own narrative by dressing her up in the American color pallet so often associated with Captain America. This first outfit makes that idea the most clear and is a fantastic entrance to the show. The shot above of her walking to work among the rest of the men in her bright colors is my absolute favorite from the entire show.

6. Daredevil Suit | Daredevil

Costume Designer: Stephanie Maslansky

A lot of detail goes into Matt Murdock's Daredevil suit and I love the integration of Melvin as the fictional designer explaining the abilities and functions of the suit. With the horns and red eyes, the suit remains true to the comics, but with a darker, more armored, realistic look.

5. Jess's "Bangsgiving" Dress | New Girl

Costume Designer: Debra McGuire

Episode: Thanksgiving IV

I'm noticing that I have a penchant for the color red in these costumes. It makes sense, as it is a popular color used to make characters stand out. Jess definitely stands out in this dress for Schmidt's declared"Bangsgiving" in which she gets paired with her attractive coworker, Ryan. Like most of Jess' wardrobe, it's definitely a dress I would want in my closet.

4. Madalena's Battle Dress | Galavant

Costume Designer: Sheena Napier

Episodes: Do the D'DEW, Battle of the Three Armies, The One True King

Although Madalena insists that royals do not fight their own wars, that doesn't stop her from wearing one of the most fashionable pieces of battle armor on TV. The armored corset has a beautiful leaf design, but the reptilian-like stand-up collar is what contributes to the "evil queen" look of the ensemble.

3. Janet's Green Suit | The Good Place

Costume Designer: Kirston Mann

Episode: Everything Is Great!

Being a high-fantasy comedy in a seemingly perfect afterlife, The Good Place has a lot of contrasting bold colors to add to the fantastical look. While Janet usually keeps her signature blue and purple outfit throughout the show's run, the season 2 premiere provided her with some new "reboot" outfits- this green one being my favorite. I love the two different tones of green layered on one another and the addition of the pearl earrings to match the polka dots. It's such a simple, yet bold look.

2. Belle's Adventure Outfit | Once Upon A Time

Costume Designer: Eduardo Castro

Episode: The Outsider

When it comes to costuming, Once Upon A Time never disappoints. Although Belle's Storybrooke outfits are usually the ones in the spotlight, it's what I call her "adventure outfit" that is my favorite. As usual, the detail in Castro's costumes are always astounding. In an episode about being rejected as a hero by a group of men, this outfit has a distinct "Prince Charming" feel to it, establishing her as the hero to this episode in her own brave and brainiac way.

  1. Regina's Witchy Outfit | Once Upon A Time

Costume Designer: Eduardo Castro

Episode: True North

Like I said, Once Upon A Time always has amazing costumes with incredible details, particularly the ones set in the Enchanted Forest. Eduardo Castro always seems to have such fun with Regina's Evil Queen dresses and, as a result, they are always jaw dropping. This one in particular is my favorite and is, in my opinion, very underrated. I love the open dress look with the leather pants (the Evil Queen loves her leather). Regina has all sorts of fun swishing that part of the dress around dramatically when she's scaring Hansel and Gretel. As it is an episode where Regina is using the children to go toe to toe with an evil witch, the hat and the cloak give her a distinctively witchy look herself. All in all, my favorite TV costume!
